Spring Break Surprises

The end of Spring Break is fast approaching...I can not believe it is almost over...so let me update you on the many happenings of this week.

My vacation started off with me falling sick on Thursday, leaving school right at the bell, taking a nap, and then going to bed by 8:30. I was feeling much better by morning, which was a good thing because I had to go take my GRE Test. Fortunately, I got the score I needed for acceptance to Liberty University for their Ed.D program.

I did not even buy a new Easter dress this year because I have learned that I would rather be warm, than in my spring floral sun dress freezing my tushy off! So I wore my black suit and a bright pink sweater that in my mind was springy! I am glad I did because our church is on a mountain top, and the wind is always fierce up there...and it was freezing!Inside was nice and warm and we had a fabulous Easter Celebration. Parkway's service included an illustrated sermon by Pastor Ott. The service titled The Nickelodeon Man included a great message, inspiring music, and delightful dancers. Chuck was involved with practice & each performance behind the scenes operating the video techno elements. That afternoon we went to Chuck's mom's house for lunch and time to visit with all the many relatives from his side of the family. It was quite humorous watching the 50 + crowd tinker with their RAZOR cell phones. I wish I would have had a video camera so that I could have posted their "tutorial" on YouTube!

For the second year in a row, I had plans to go NO WHERE! and at the beginning of the week with temps in the 30s I was none to happy about my circumstances. NEXT YEAR ...Puerto Rico here I come! So I decided early on that I was going to have a mini vacation each day, doing activities that I normally do not do. So each day this past week I have gone to The Panera Bread Company for breakfast, gotten some rays via Ocean Tan, and worked out at the Y on ONLY the circuit weight machines with ABSOLUTELY NO CARDIO all week! I hate cardio. No one should be forced to do anything they do not like to do while on Spring Break! Now upon return to my home, I spent most of my day reading. Each day I would catch up on all the blogs I subcribe to on my RSS reader, and I even bought and read a real book with real pages. And honestly, I thought that I would take more naps but I did not really need to because I was able to wake up at a reasonable time! Now this was my regular schedule Monday through Thursday.

Now, I know that my friends out their in the world with little ones are wondering how in the world did Karla get away to do this everyday? Well it is one of the perks of having a teenage daughter who likes to sleep till noon on her Spring Break and go spend the night with her many girl friends. So most of the time I was home about the time little sunshine was beginning to rustle!

On Friday...

I got to spend the entire day with my husband because he was off from work. So I convinced him to join me in my Panera ritual, and he agreed to do so after we did some other quick errands. We were also going to go test drive a convertible. After the test drive, discussing the possibility of purchase, and a trip to the bank, I drove it off the lot! I know! I can't believe it either! This is a milestone in my life because I have never driven anything of a lot before in my life. Chuck and I have always been very blessed to have vehicles come our way in very unexpected ways. So the Lord has once again given me the "desires of my heart". I have wanted a convertible for about five years. It finally has happened. It is perfect for me... It is not brand new or anything is is actually 10 years old, but it only has 60,000 miles on it! We got a great deal on it! I have to say that is is better than any ole' trip I could have taken. It was even warm yesterday so we were able to drive around all over with the top down. Can you tell I am excited!
Reality is setting in and I am beginning to fashion all kinds of "to do" lists in my mind. This year Spring Break has fallen very early for us in the education world. And now our mind shifts to thinking about how long it is going to take to get to almost the middle of June! But I have the rest of the day and a fabulous last day of rest to look forward to as I wrap up Spring Break 2008!

Girl Power!

I know that I have not blogged in a very long while! I have been too busy organizing my Google Reader and reading everyone else's blog! But again, I find something absolutely blog worthy...well at least in my mind. Just like my last post it has to do once again with a TV show! This time the TV reality show Biggest Loser! Yes, I admit it I have a problem. I love to watch TV... I am actually addicted! The first step to beating an addiction is to first admit you have a problem. That is what I keep telling myself.

Tonight on Biggest Loser justice was finally served as the two final women demonstrated they too could triumph and send two well deserving pompous, cocky, overconfident blue team members below the yellow line! Congrats to Ali & Kelly. You kick butt! I promise to post some entries of substance in the very near future! But hey it is Spring Break...

LOST

I must make a few comments on my favorite show, LOST. The new season is better than GREAT! It is fierce! Now I have been a faithful fan since the first episode. Chuck...not so much! But this season, he sat down and watched one of the recap shows and got up to speed. So now I have a LOST buddy right in my very own home! Last week came the best quote ever from Chuck. He shouted out," We are 40 minutes into this show and have not gotten one question answered!" HAHAHAHAHAHA! Welcome to LOST, baby! Can't even tell you how many times I have yelled out in the past two years in frustration, "I know I am getting answers, people, problem is I do not know the questions yet!" I feel your pain, Chuck, I really do !-)

Now, to comment on this week's episode. I wrote down in my notes...Yes! I take notes while I watch LOST! STEP OFF! "First, flash backs, then flash forwards... NOW...time travel!" Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved this last episode. We all love "a love story"and if Desmond & Penny's love can survive eight years apart with no contact, a mysterious island, and time travel there is hope for "long lasting love"for us all!

I will SHOUT into the Blogosphere!

Okay- I have been totally bogged down lately with the INs and OUTs of life that I have been neglecting my blogging duties both personally and professionally. Time to get caught up! My first post tonight is in honor once again for the great God I serve. As some of you know, my sister Kendra has been battling colon cancer since early in November. Today, Kendra posted an awesome entry on her blog, just days after surgery, that is SO uplifting, that I must send you off into the blogosphere so that you too can receive a blessing from her words! Take time to read "From a Mass to a Peanut!". Love you to bits, Kendra! You have been a great example to all of us on how to place all our faith, hope & love in Him!

Thank you Lord for watching over my sister and giving her great doctors. Thank you for placing in her life a strong, loving, supportive, Christian husband who encouraged and held her hand through every step! I will shout into the blogosphere, that I serve a great God, a loving God, and Healer! We give all the glory honor and praise to you, God, for what you have done, and what you continue to do!
